What’s a loupe?

A loupe (pronounced loop) is a magnifying device used by photographers, printers, and designers to see detail in a printed piece to check color, alignment, and quality.

And that’s us. Hyper-focused on every pixel and every detail of each creative project, way too deep in color theory, and seriously committed to an amazing product.

Who we are

Danielle Kay Lucas is the founder and principal designer at Loupe. She has 12+ years of experience in the design industry, including time at a newspaper, commercial printer, a tourism bureau, and of course, at Studio Loupe.

Loupe operates primarily as a solo design studio (plus a 2-dog staff), but if we need to go big, we scale up. When a project needs more power, we call in our collaborators and creative partners: photographers, copywriters, web developers, social media advisors, or project managers. We know people.

We are based in Bloomington, Indiana and work with clients both locally and across North America.

Our Philosophy

Make it feel like a snow day.

Remember when you were a kid, and you woke up for school only to learn that you have a snow day? That’s the feeling that we’re striving to create every time we drop new design work in your inbox: wild unexpected happiness.

No meetings on Friday.

You don’t want meetings on Friday, we don’t want meetings on Friday. So let’s make it Monday. Fridays are for creative exploration in a blissfully free schedule, and it’s when we make our most fun work for you.

It’s subfolders all the way down.

Impeccable organization is one of our top priorities; we stay organized internally, during the design process, in communications, and in final delivery. When we give you the final logo package, you should be able to find the version you’re looking for within 10 seconds.
